Department Overview

History


The Department of Applied Statistics and Information Science (ASIS), previously known as Department of Statistics, was established in 1990 located on Taipei campus, upgraded from the Department of Accounting & Statistics of Ming Chuan College. In 1998, ASIS moved to Taoyuan campus and a master's program was established in 2002.

The main goal of this department is to train talents with decision-making and analytical skills, taking into account the needs of future employment markets for students. Therefore, in teaching and curriculum design, special emphasis is placed on the application of computer software packages combined with statistical analysis methods to ensure that theory and practical operation are closely integrated and that the principle of "learning by doing" is achieved. The department aims to train statistical professionals who are capable of handling data and problem solving. Its greatest features are curriculum training standardization, practical course informationization, teacher professionalization, and curriculum content humanization.
